The Dension Gateway LITE (D2B) was first released in December 2009, providing a more cost effective solution then the full GW500 product which it replaced. This Gateway Lite, unlike the full GW500, does not have RCA inputs and does not support switching back to the original CD changer if fitted. It also does not support CD TEXT, but Mercedes head units do not support CD TEXT so that was not a useable function on Mercedes vehicles. It also does not include the iPod connecting cable as not all users require it. The Dension Gateway Lite allows you to connect a USB drive or, with optional cable, an iPod to the older Mercedes (pre early/mid 2004) which have the CD based navigation system or single DIN size head units with D2B fibre optic support. (Audio 10, Audio-30, Audio-30 APS & COMAND 2.0). These D2B based audio units were fitted to the old shape (W168) A class, Pre March 2004 built W203 C & W209 CLK, old shape (W208) CLK, old shape (W210) E class, old shape (W163) ML Class, old shape S & CL pre MY 2004 (W220/W215) vehicles. The Dension Gateway Lite (D2B) pretends to be a CD changer (so if you have a CD changer it will no longer be available). Please remember to order the Dension iPod cable if you intend to connect an iPod to this device Note that you use the iPod controls to select tracks, playlists etc as normal but you can do track up / down on the stereo controls and steering wheel controls. Takes under an hour to install. You may need the head unit removal keys (see Tools section) to remove your head unit.
