This is the new version of the Mercedes SAP cradle known as SAP V3. The SAP cradle is Mercedes' premium Bluetooth phone solution. The SAP cradle uses Bluetooth SAP protocol (your phone must support SAP/Remote SIM protocol) to take over the ID of the phone. The phone is then put into a low power mode and calls are made by the SAP cradle using the car's external aerial. A SIM card can also be inserted directly into the device in emergencies or if you prefer not to use Bluetooth and to have a seperate SIM for your car. It now supports Blackberry as-well as Nokia (and a few Siemens) cradles and has a USB charging so you can charge your phone. Mercedes have officially tested it on all current models with:- Nokia 8800, 6280, E50, 6500 Slide, E51, 8800 Arte, 6300, N82, N78, 6220 Classic Nokia 6210 Navigator, N85, N96, E71, E66, E63, 3720 Classic 6600i slide, 6710 navigator, N97 mini Blackberry 9000 Bold, 8900 Curve It should be noted however that we have had customers with issues with the 9700 Bold and we suspect that the latest version of the Blackberry firmware has some issues with SAP. It is for vehicles with option 386 or 388, UHI exchangeable cradle system. But it is not suitable for older cars with CD based COMAND, Audio 10 or Audio30. We beleive it will work with all modern Nokia phones, Blackberrys with SAP support. Instructions are also included for Windows Mobile SAP devices but we have not tested that ourselves. Note that the Apple iPhone does not support SAP and this cradle can not be used with that. It will auto download the phonebook into the cradle on most phones, or in the case of the Nokia phones with Symbian the address book has to be sent manually. On W204 and MY2009 cars the Audio system is then told to import the phonebook from the SAP cradle. It also now has a variety of selectable ring tones and has a USB port for charging phones that charge via USB. Please note that this is a GSM900/GSM1800MHZ device only. It will therefore not work in countries that do not have GSM900 or GSM1800 networks, or if your operator is not GSM based (such as the '3' network in the UK). This unit is on a four day lead time. |
