When installing a new map on NTG3.5 (W221 S/CL post model year 2010), NTG4.5 (W204/R172 MY2011 onward) or NTG5 (latest systems) a PIN code is needed. It is the PIN code that is the licence for the map, thus preventing fraudulent repeat installation of a map disk on many vehicles.
