| The genuine Mercedes Blackberry telephone cradle is for connecting a Blackberry 9700 / 9780 Bold to a Mercedes Benz with the telephone prewiring with exchangeable cradle system (option 386 or 388) It will use the car's antenna to improve the phone signal and will charge the Blackberry This is NOT suitable for the A & B class, cars with the CD based colour COMAND system (sat nav with map with only 1-2 countries rather than that a whole continent), or the single height radio or navigation (Audio 5, Audio 10, Audio 30, Audio-30-APS) fitted to cars before approx mid 2004. It uses Bluetooth to connect to the Blackberry, so the phone will work (once paired) whether in the cradle or not, however it needs to be in the cradle to charge and use the external antenna.
